Frequently asked questions
What is PetPassGo?
A travel-prep tool for flying with a pet or service animal. Answer a few questions about your trip, then check out a Travel Pass: one checklist of your airline's requirements, documents and deadlines, with your progress tracked. Pet Vault ($6.99 USD/mo) holds records, a Digital Pet ID, and more.
Do I have to pay to start?
The trip questions lead straight to checkout. A Travel Pass is $49.99 USD, or $19.99 USD with Pet Vault. Pet Vault is $6.99 USD a month. Prices are in US dollars. The lost-pet flyer maker is the one tool that needs no account and no payment.
What does the Travel Pass cost and what's included?
$49.99 USD per trip, or $19.99 USD for members. You get the requirements for your airline, route and animal, a checklist with deadlines and reminders. A step is shown only when we have the official page and the date we last checked it. Without Pet Vault, your Digital Pet ID and document vault stay active until 7 days after the trip ends: 7 days after the travel date on a one-way trip, or 7 days after the return date if you add a later return. One-way trips stay one date.
Which airlines do you cover?
Major U.S. airlines (Delta, American, United, Southwest, JetBlue, Alaska/Hawaiian, Frontier, Allegiant, Sun Country) plus Aeroméxico, Volaris and Viva Aerobus for Mexico routes. Requirements come from each airline’s own site or official government sources.
Who can use the community boards?
Pet Vault members can read and post. Airline tips and Lost & Found posts are not visible without Pet Vault. Community tips are from travelers and are not verified — always follow your PetPassGo checklist and airline rules.
What is Pet Vault?
$6.99 USD a month. It renews every month until you cancel. Cancel online anytime in account Billing. No phone call. You keep access through the month you've paid, and you won't be charged again. It holds your pet's records, ID and more: a Digital Pet ID with QR code, finder messages that come to you after you tap Report lost, a Lost & Found board post for the state and city you enter, community boards, document expiry reminders and unlimited pets. Travel Passes cost Pet Vault members $19.99 USD instead of $49.99 USD. Pet Vault fees are not part of the Flight-Ready Guarantee.
What happens if I cancel or my trip ends?
Your pets and documents are kept, not deleted, and come back when you rejoin Pet Vault. After a Travel Pass, the Pet ID and document vault stay open until 7 days after the trip ends. The printable lost-pet flyer can still be made with no account.
What can I do without paying?
You can make a lost-pet flyer and share it. Nothing you type on that page is uploaded. Trip questions go to checkout, and the checklist is in the Travel Pass after you pay.
Where does your information come from?
Each airline's own website and official government sources, such as the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), the CDC, USDA APHIS and state agencies. A Travel Pass step is shown only when we have that page and the date we last checked it. If we don't, the pass says to check with your airline.
Do the rules really differ between airlines?
Yes. Fees, carrier limits, booking steps, which animals are accepted and where they can fly all vary by airline and change over time. That's why each Travel Pass is built for your airline and route.
What counts as a service animal on U.S. flights?
A dog individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability. A psychiatric service dog (PSD) is a service dog. Emotional support animals, comfort animals and dogs in training don't qualify. If your animal isn't a dog, it flies as a pet.
Can airlines ask for paperwork for a service dog?
Yes. Airlines may require the DOT Service Animal Air Transportation Form, plus the DOT Relief Attestation Form for flights of 8 hours or more. When and how to submit them varies by airline; your Travel Pass shows the details.
Can my emotional support animal fly?
Yes, as a regular pet. Since 2021, U.S. airlines no longer treat emotional support animals as service animals, so the airline's standard pet fee and carrier rules apply.
What if my destination has its own animal entry rules, like Hawaii or Mexico?
Some destinations add requirements on top of the airline's. Hawaii has a state rabies-quarantine program. Mexico requires a New World Screwworm inspection certificate for dogs (USDA-accredited vet, within 5 days of arrival) and SENASICA checks pets on entry. Returning to the U.S. with a dog also means following CDC dog importation rules. Your Travel Pass includes destination-specific steps when they apply.
Who can see my pet's information?
Only you. Your pet profile, documents and trips are private. The public Digital Pet ID page shows only your pet's name, species, breed and photo, plus your emergency contact if you turn that on.
What if a requirement in my Travel Pass is wrong?

Can I buy from the EU or the UK?
Yes. Prices are in US dollars (USD). If you live in the EU or the UK, you have 14 days to withdraw from digital content. At checkout you can agree to start your Travel Pass and Pet Vault access immediately, and acknowledge that you lose that right once it starts. We confirm both by email. If you do not give that consent and acknowledgment, you may withdraw within 14 days for a full refund. You can cancel Pet Vault online anytime. Details are on the Flight-Ready Guarantee page.
